This allows sessions to remain calm, conversational and responsive to the questions and experiences within the group.
Rather than lecture-style teaching, discussions unfold naturally — helping parents explore their options, develop confidence and prepare for birth in a way that feels meaningful to them.
Families preparing for birth have different needs depending on their circumstances and previous experiences.
We offer three antenatal preparation pathways — so you can choose the one that best reflects your pregnancy and birth plans.

THE RETURN JOURNEY™
An antenatal refresher programme designed for parents preparing for birth again.
Many second-time parents find they do not need a full first-time antenatal course, but still value space to refresh their knowledge and prepare differently for this birth.
The Return Journey is designed for parents preparing for birth again — particularly those who want deeper, more personalised preparation with expert midwives.
This may be right for you if:

You want a refresher on labour and birth preparation

You have attended antenatal classes before but want deeper clinical insight

You felt underprepared during aspects of your first birth

You are planning a VBAC or different birth experience

You want calm, expert preparation without repeating a full course
Sessions combine practical birth preparation with discussion and reflection, helping parents approach this birth feeling informed, capable and confident.

All Baby On Board classes are taught by expert midwives with decades of clinical experience within local NHS maternity services.
This means your preparation reflects how maternity care works in practice — not just theory.
Parents gain clear insight into appointments, options and decision-making, helping them approach pregnancy and birth with confidence.

If you’re unsure which antenatal pathway is right for you, you’re welcome to arrange a short conversation with one of our midwives.
We can talk through your stage of pregnancy, your plans for birth, and help you choose the preparation that feels right for you.
