Midwife-Led Antenatal Classes in Sevenoaks & Tunbridge Wells

Baby On Board antenatal classes are designed and delivered by expert midwives with decades of clinical experience within NHS maternity services.

Held in intentionally small groups, our classes provide thoughtful preparation for labour, birth and early parenting — helping families approach pregnancy and birth feeling informed, steady and well supported.

Our preparation is grounded in physiology, current maternity guidance and real clinical practice, helping parents understand not only what happens in theory but how maternity care unfolds in practice.

SMALL GROUPS THAT ALLOW REAL CONVERSATION

All Baby On Board antenatal classes are taught in small groups of no more than 6–8 couples.

This allows sessions to remain calm, conversational and responsive to the questions and experiences within the group.

Rather than lecture-style teaching, discussions unfold naturally — helping parents explore their options, develop confidence, and prepare for birth in a way that feels meaningful to them.

ANTENATAL PREPARATION PATHWAYS

Families preparing for birth have different needs depending on their circumstances and previous experiences.

Baby On Board offers three antenatal preparation pathways so parents can choose the preparation that best reflects their needs.

THE BABY ON BOARD ANTENATAL ROUTE™

Our six-week antenatal course designed primarily for first-time parents or those wanting comprehensive preparation.

Across six sessions we explore labour physiology, navigating maternity care decisions, newborn care, feeding and baby first aid — combining clinical insight with practical preparation.

Sessions build progressively so parents feel informed, capable and ready to engage with their maternity care with clarity and confidence.

THE BABY ON BOARD C-SECTION ROUTE™

A preparation pathway for families planning a caesarean birth.

Parents following this route join the Antenatal Route from Week 3 onward, where all parents prepare together for caesarean birth, newborn care, feeding and baby first aid.

This approach ensures every family feels prepared for their birth experience while remaining part of a supportive group environment.

THE RETURN JOURNEY™

An antenatal refresher programme designed for parents preparing for birth again.

Many second-time parents find they do not need a full first-time antenatal course, but still value space to refresh their knowledge and prepare differently for this birth.

THE RETURN JOURNEY™

The Return Journey™ is designed specifically for parents preparing for birth again.

Many parents who join The Return Journey previously attended antenatal classes elsewhere and are looking for deeper preparation with practising midwives.

The programme is particularly helpful for parents who:

Want a refresher on labour and birth preparation

Previously attended antenatal classes but would value deeper clinical insight

Felt underprepared for aspects of their first birth experience

Are planning a VBAC or hoping for a different birth experience this time

Want calm, expert preparation without repeating a full antenatal course

Sessions combine practical birth preparation with discussion and reflection, helping parents approach this birth feeling informed, capable and confident.

Personalised Midwife Support, Beyond Individual Sessions

The First Class Journey™ is a high-touch, continuity-led pathway designed for families who want ongoing, personalised midwife support alongside structured education.

This is not a bolt-on.

It’s not a generic upgrade.

And it’s not for everyone.

It’s for families who:

  • value an ongoing relationship with a trusted midwife

  • want consistent support across pregnancy, birth planning and early parenthood

  • need help interpreting options and making informed decisions

  • want emotional reassurance alongside clinical expertise

Within this journey, families receive:

  • comprehensive antenatal education

  • personalised planning and decision-making support

  • feeding and sleep guidance

  • continuity with midwives who know your story, preferences and concerns

The defining feature is the relationship.

Instead of repeating your story at every appointment, you’re supported by a consistent midwife team who understands you and walks alongside you as things evolve.

We introduce this gently on the homepage because it’s not an upsell.

It’s simply an option for families who want deeper, ongoing support.

Gentle, Evidence-Based Newborn Sleep Support

Sleep questions don’t start after birth; they start during pregnancy.

Our newborn sleep education helps you understand:

What normal newborn sleep actually looks like

How sleep develops in the early weeks and months

Safe sleep guidance

Gentle settling strategies

How to build positive habits without rigid routines

This is not sleep training.

It’s realistic, biology-led guidance that supports both baby and parents.

Workshops are available in Kent and online.

Preparing to Feed Your Baby with Confidence

Feeding is one of the most emotionally loaded parts of early parenthood.

Our feeding workshops focus on:

Understanding how feeding works

Recognising feeding cues
